Hazardous Waste Disposal
Did you know that Computer CRT Monitors are classed as "HAZARDOUS WASTE"?Since 2002, all electrical equipment that contains CRT's (Cathode Ray Tubes) have been considered Hazardous Waste. Included within this category are Computer Monitors (not TFT style) and Televisions.
From the 16th July 2005, the new Hazardous Waste Regulations will require any company that will produce in excess of 200 kilos of hazardous waste in a year to register with, and be licensed by, the Environment Agency. This will become a legal obligation, and without the necessary licensing, it will be impossible for a company to dispose of their waste.
If you are likely to dispose of approximately 15+ standard P.C. monitors (CRT's) in any twelve month period, you must register, as you are likely to be a 200kg+ producer of hazardous waste.
The new regulations also class Fluorescent Light Tubes & Batteries likely to be found in Laptops, UPS's, Mobile Phones & PDA's etc. as Hazardous Waste.
